The West Seattle Herald reports that our own Rat City Rollergirls have earned a spot in the 2009 Women’s Flat Track Derby Association Western Regional Tournament. They’ll compete against all-star teams from nine other leagues for a chance to advance to the national championship. This regional tourney, Oct. 2-4 in Colorado, is called “Derby On the Rocks.” Want to show your support? Click here to find out how to get your a$$ kicked by a rollergirl.

After yesterday’s hard hit in the back, speculation has been running rampant about the seriousness of Seahawks Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck’s injury. Now ESPN is reporting that he has a cracked rib. Seattle Times reporter Danny O’Neil says on his Twitter feed that the Seahawks aren’t saying anything until 2:15 p.m.
If he’s out, is Seneca up to the task of facing the Chicago Bears this weekend?

Having a hard time rolling out of bed in the mornings? Well, Nate Robinson wants to help wake your a** up. The Seattle native and current New York Nick recently recorded a bunch of wake-up calls intended for school kids who struggle to get out of bed in the mornings. So far he’s recorded nine calls, as part of the “Wake Up On Time” campaign by the Ad Council/U.S. Army. He impersonates a robot in one and Robin Hood in another. My favorite is titled “AKA” (Yo!. It’s Nate Robinson- a.k.a. Cryto Nate, a.k.a. Shake-n-bake, a.k.a. Dunkasaurus Rex….). You can also sign up for wake-up calls from Amar’e Stoudemire, Lance Briggs, Willis MaGahee and Miss America 2009 Katie Stam. While they’re meant for school students, anyone can sign up to for a wake-up call – you can even send one to a friend. (You may not get thanked, but at least someone will have a good laugh.)
