Original Article: Seattle Zombie Walk Oct. 10, mmm, brains…

zombie-walk.jpgGet into the Halloween spirit by putting on your creepiest outfit and shuffling on over to Seattle Center for the annual Seattle Zombie Walk, 3 p.m., Oct. 10.

Event organizer Eric Pope has been organizing zombie walks for the past five years and in July, organized one that broke the Guiness Book of World Records with 3,848 zombies. If you’re not familiar with these, here’s how Wikipedia explains them:

A zombie walk (also known as a zombie mob, zombie march, zombie horde, zombie lurch, zombie shamble, zombie shuffle or zombie pub crawl) is an organized public gathering of people who dress up in zombie costumes. Usually taking place in an urban center, the participants make their way around the city streets and through shopping malls in a somewhat orderly fashion and often limping their way towards a local cemetery or other public space (a series of taverns in the case of a zombie pub crawl).

Participants will gather on the grass field in front of the Space Needle at 3 p.m. and start the walk a little before 5 p.m. There’s also a rock concert, Zombie Karaoke and a Thriller sing-along planned.

Original Article: Pearl Jam kicks off world tour at KeyArena

Pearl Jam kicks off its new world tour tonight and tomorrow night at KeyArena. The Seattle-based band plays in eight more U.S. cities, then heads down under for a tour of Australia and New Zealand in November. Pearl Jam released their ninth studio album “Backspacer” yesterday; it’s the group’s first independent release on its own Monkey Wrench label.

Meanwhile, Pearl Jam fans can give back to the community before they rock at KeyArena tonight. The Wishlist Foundation is hosting a pre-concern fundraiser at T.S. McHugh’s at 21 Mercer Street from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. Folks who make donations will receive Pearl Jam inspired t-shirts, posters and other memorabilia. The fundraiser will benefit literacy organization 826 Seattle and breast cancer support organization Young Survival Coalition. Canned dry food will also be collected for Northwest Harvest.

Original Article: Walks, art and otherwise, the circus and MJ

Lot of events this weekend in and around the Seattle area, including the Belltown Art Walk, Art Up Greenwood-Phinney and even a Michael Jackson Sing-a-Long Tribute.

The circus is also in Everett until Sunday. And if you’re up that way this weekend and you see a bunch of people wearing pink, it’s not your imagination, it’s some of the more than 2,000 people in the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk. There are even some firefighters walking in their full gear – for 60 miles. Now that’s dedication to the cause!

What about you, you have any good plans you want to share?
